At this conference, we will present a quiz creation add-in tool we are developing for MSWord. Our goal is to make it possible to create both paper tests for face-to-face classes and Google Form tests for online courses using our quiz creation menu within MSWord.
Currently, the paper test quizzes support commonly used test formats (fill-in-the-blank, sorting, multiple choice, matching, true-false, and short answer). Users do not need to learn how to use a new application. Still, they can create quizzes just as they create a document in MS Word, which application they are accustomed to using. Then, all users need to do is press the issue paper button to generate two types of quizzes: one for students and the other with correct answers for teachers. The creation of quizzes for online courses is currently a work in progress. Its method is the same as creating paper-test quizzes: Press the "Publish Online Class" button to create a "script to generate a Google Form." Then execute the script to create Google Form quizzes. The most important part, the script generation part, has been prototyped and is currently being tested.
Finally, we have already developed a tool for university ESL/EFL English teachers to create teaching materials on their familiar MSWord without switching between multiple applications (e.g., text analysis and text difficulty measurement). This study is part of that effort and aims to reduce teachers' time creating teaching materials on familiar MSWord without worrying about how to operate the software.
